Case Studies in Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound with DVD-ROM
David J. McLario , John L. Kendall
editore: Cambridge
pagine: 302
Clinician-performed bedside ultrasound is an exciting new development in medicine. Numerous diagnostic and procedural applications show great promise for improving the care of children. Many pediatric providers, however, remain unaware of its potential and ultrasound continues to be under-utilized in both the investigation and management of ill and injured children. Case Studies in Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound illustrates the utility of bedside ultrasound in a variety of scenarios, including the emergency setting and critical care unit. A wide range of diagnostic and procedural applications are covered in fifty-nine cases, recreating real-life experiences of expert practitioners. The cases are concise and readable, with teaching points that highlight how ultrasound can be used to expedite and focus pediatric care. With hundreds of high-quality images, and video content accompanying many cases, this text is essential reading for pediatricians, emergency physicians, pediatric anesthesiologists and critical care physicians.

Giles Kendall , Janet M. Rennie
editore: Hodder Arnold
pagine: 424
The fifth edition of this highly successful and well-regarded book continues to provide those working in neonatal intensive care units with precise instructions on the diagnosis and management of common neonatal problems. This edition has been extensively updated and revised, while retaining the background physiology, key references, and diagrams that made previous editions so successful. Several new chapters have been added, including the subjects of fetal medicine, antenatal diagnosis, and obstetrics for the neonatologist. Using a clear, accessible style, this edition features discussions of evidence-based medicine and the introduction of additional easy-to-digest lists. The text has been made more internationally applicable, including a re-focus of the chapter on organization of neonatal care away from UK-specific admission criteria and more towards general reasons for admitting a baby to the intensive care ward. A Manual for Neonatal Intensive Care provides invaluable guidance for trainees in pediatrics, neonatology, and neonatal nursing and forms a useful ready-reference for the practicing pediatrician and nurse.

Pediatric Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain: Standardization in Clinical Practice
Antonino Gullo , Marinella Astuto
editore: Springer Verlag
pagine: 221
This book provides a comprehensive overview of current standards of anesthesia and intensive care in neonates and children, with a view to promoting standardization in clinical practice. The first part of the book, devoted to issues in intensive care, opens by considering scoring systems for the assessment of sick children. The diagnosis, prevention, and management of ventilator-associated pneumonia are then discussed, and the roles of high-frequency oscillatory ventilation and noninvasive respiratory support are reviewed. Further chapters address procedural sedation and analgesia in children, the progress toward 'open' ICUs with liberal visiting policies, and advances in long-term home mechanical ventilation. In the second part of the book, a range of important topics in anesthesia and perioperative medicine are discussed. After a review of safety issues, current trends in pediatric regional and locoregional anesthesia are described and a synopsis is provided on current knowledge regarding the use of central blocks in infants and children. Subsequent chapters are devoted to awareness monitoring, single-lung ventilation techniques, anesthesia in the context of severe prematurity, and emergence delirium. Pediatric Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain: Standardization in Clinical Practice will be an extremely useful source of information for both novices and more experienced practitioners in the field.

Musicoterapia in onco-ematologia pediatrica. Metodologia di lavoro e valutazione dei risultati
Lorenzo Capolsini , Mariolina Rossi
editore: Cittadella
